STMicroelectronics' Digital Satellite Broadcast Chips for SIRIUS Backseat TV
The SIRIUS Satellite Radio digital video receiver provides exceptional reception in several new Chrysler Group vehicles already. STMicroelectronics now provides the digital broadcasting chipset for SIRIUS Backseat satellite TV. This in-vehicle satellite TV is featured in select 2008-model Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles. The in-vehicle satellite TV has three channels of family TV and is received by an in-vehicle satellite video receiver and two roof antennas. The SIRIUS Backseat satellite TV digital audio/video signal broadcasts over the same frequency spectrum as SIRIUS radio.
The core of this satellite TV video receiver is three ST chips: the STA210 RF tuner IC; the STA240 channel, service and source decoder IC; and the STA264 advanced hierarchical demodulator chip. ST collaborated with SIRIUS in 2004 to develop radio receiver chipsets. SIRIUS is now a major member of the automotive entertainment field. ST has led digital broadcast radio technology for 10 years and is the world's leading supplier of microchip components for digital radio receivers for automotive radio manufacturers. In the US, ST is also the chip supplier for XM Radio receivers and SIRIUS digital satellite radios.
